Collaboration Quadrants is an innovative tool for mapping the effects of international collaboration.

Which collaborations are win-wins?

Together with the original report author, Hans Pohl, Programme Director at STINT, we developed an interactive, animated bubble chart tool that shows patterns and outcomes of international university collaborations.

The tool uses uses the metric "Field-Weighted Citation Impact" to place each collaboration in one of four quadrants where the top right quadrant signifies a win-win for both institutions.

The tool also has a number of interactive seetings to for example:

  • See trends over time
  • Select and compare certain regions
  • Show trails
  • Sort and zoom
  • Show "fractionalized" or "non-fractionalized" data
